About Typing the Word

A quiet place to copy Scripture.

Not a race through the Bible, but a journey through it, one verse at a time.

Why I Built This

A few months ago, a friend and I decided to build websites that might make the world a little better. That idea eventually grew into a small team called NextiumSpace.

Typing the Word was the first project we created together.

My father is a devoted Christian. He worked until the age of seventy-six, and after retiring due to declining health, he spent the next four years hand-copying all sixty-six books of the Bible. Today, his health has deteriorated further. He can no longer copy Scripture, and even sitting down to read for a short time has become difficult.

I wanted to better understand why he devoted so much of his life to copying the Bible. I also wanted to feel a little closer to the journey he had taken. So I built this website and began copying Scripture myself. Typing the Word was born from that desire.

My hope is that this site will be a small help to others who, like my father, wish to slow down, spend time with Scripture, and move through it one verse at a time.

Reading moves quickly. Copying slows us down.

What I Hope to Build

'Typing the Word' began as a small team project, but I hope it can become something larger than that.

I would like to make Scripture available in more translations, allowing readers from different traditions and backgrounds to copy and engage with the Bible in the version they know best.

I also hope to include the Deuterocanonical books and other historical texts that have been treasured by Christian communities throughout the centuries.

Beyond individual typing, I would love to create ways for families, friends, churches, and small groups to copy Scripture together. A shared journey can often be more meaningful than a solitary one. One day, I hope people from around the world will be able to participate in a global Scripture-copying project, contributing verse by verse toward a common goal.

Finally, I hope Typing the Word can become a place not only for copying Scripture, but also for reflection. A place where readers can share thoughts, insights, and encouragement inspired by the verses they have spent time with.

For now, the project is still small. But I hope it continues to grow—one reader, one verse, and one journey at a time.
